Florence & the Machine. One word - awesome. I've seen a lot of bands in my forty-something years of life. This gig was special. Tonight sped by, leaving me with a huge grin on my face. Wonderful vocals and a HUGE stage presence. We were privileged to be present at such an intimate gig. When she next comes to Glasgow (no doubt at a bigger venue), be sure to get a ticket.
The oddest thing happened when we retiried to the bar upstairs. As I approached the bar to order a drink, who should be sitting there all by herself, but Florence! Right in front of me. Starstruck as ever, I had to quickly decide what to do. Ignore her? Ask for her autograph? In the end, I simply thanked her for a great performance, talked for a few minutes, then brought GV Bro over for a chat. She seems like a lovely young woman and it was a delight to meet her. A couple of gay guys asked if I could pretend they were with us in order to meet her. They chatted to her and were more than grateful for the opportunity. I think they went off to whatever late night shenanigans rock stars get up to. Us middle-aged people went home for a hot cocoa.
What a memorable evening!
